Strong signs indicate a major evolution of a society of information technologies towards a world of intelligence with robots, future companions of our life, whether it is for our leisure activities, our education or to our service.

The emerging market of personal robotics should assert itself as a mass market in the next 10 years. The analysts bank on a worldwide market of 18 billion US dollars (14 billion euro) in 2015 (Source: ABI Research) with a 500 million US dollars estimation in 2007.

This revolution is going to come along with numerous questions and with needs of professional organization. New professions are going to appear as the robotician, the specialist of robotics integration, the trainer to personal robotics... Discussions for or against robots at school will arise. Ethical rules will certainly have to be laid out.

The reflection on all these subjects began in Research laboratories of universities or within specialized companies but it requires to become a collective and collaborative discussion.

Then, the status of trade association for SYROBO means a lot. Syrobo allows the actors of this technological evolution to meet, to exchange, to move forward together on these new challenges. These debates have to lead us to propositions and concrete answers to answer the needs of our industry.

SYROBO wants to gather as much the industrial actors as the universities and the research centers interested in the development of domestic robotics. The companies involved in computing, electronics, mechanics but also materials as plastics or textiles or the ones involved in software applications whether it is language, vocal, visual or AI are invited to participate in the studies, the debates and events organized by SYROBO.

Designers, sociologists or passionate individual researchers can also join our organisation to bring their stone to it and help in the dissimination of information and the formalization of this innovative sector.

Asia, more specially Korea and Japan, has already begun its "cultural robolution" while Europe is rather late on this heavy social development trend. By establishing SYROBO as a privileged interlocutor of public authorities grouping togetherall the lifeblood of the sector, we have more weight than any individual action.

In summary, SYROBO articulates its actions around three axes:

  • Information and communication on personal and services robotics,
  • Debates and concrete proposals on the professional and sociologic evolutions that will necessarily derive from the emergence of robots in our daily environment,
  • and finally the visibility of a branch of industry destined to become the biggest value-creating and employment sector of the 21th century.
