January news from Innorobo 2012

INNOROBO, the innovation robotic summit, is gathering a thorough representation of the international service robotics community and targeted professionals interested in the various fields of applications of this fast emerging industry, through a cycle of high end conferences and a dedicated exhibition hall. During 3 days, professionals and visionaries will come and share their expertise and knowledge on how tomorrow’s robots from the service robotics industry could be our companion, care taker, assistant and prolong the human abilities to help us solve societal issues we already have and will face soon.

CONFERENCES

Several themes will be highlighted during the cycle of conferences:

MARKET, SYNERGIES AND CONVERGENCE BETWEEN INDUSTRIAL AND SERVICE ROBOTICS:

Industrial robotics is evolving towards new industries as well as smaller firms. It needs to reinvent itself and produce more flexible, mobile, easily trainable robots to work hand in hand with human workers.

URBAN ROBOTS FOR CITIZENS:

One vision for the future features a generation of robots designed to play various roles in our urban society. Moreover, we believe intelligent robotics to be a potential solution to major societal challenges. Robotics can solve our issues of mobility within an overwhelming urbanization context, and be an asset for sustainable development while answering our demanding energy consumption.

Claude LAURGEAU - France
Founder of the Robotics Centre at Mines ParisTech in 1988 and its Director until 2008.

HUMAN-ROBOT INTERACTIONS:

User-centered design is a must for robots to truly become a mass market. Although technologies progress rapidly, and despite the impressive demonstrations of humanoid robots from Japan or elsewhere, we are not there yet. Hence the shape of robots has to be driven both by its functions and by our human expectations and perceptions.

Takanori SHIBATA - Japan
Senior research scientist at AIST since ’98.

CLOUD ROBOTICS:

Every file, document, database and digital information is now going through the “Cloud”. What does it mean for our future, with machine to machine communication, connectivity for each and every of our daily life object? The imaginary world of Matrix is not so far away: your personal robot can learn with a simple download from the Cloud how to fly a helicopter or cook the perfect dinner.

Robert S. BAUER - USA
Executive Director at Willow Garage.

INNOROBO : Service Robotics Innovation Summit

Today’s devices are becoming smarter and connected. They sense their environment, process the data collected and act upon autonomously or semi-autonomously.  It is going beyond productivity enters our daily life in our health, safety, transportation, communication, entertainment and more. This trend that we name “Robolution” will continue into the future as a real opportunity for disruptive innovations.

Innorobo – 14th to 15th of March 2012, in Lyon, France – is gathering the thinkers and doers of service robotics and intelligent distributed systems to accelerate the emergence of such innovations.

EXHIBITION AREA

We already have more than 60 exhibitors from 9 countries in Asia, North America and Europe who confirmed their attendance and  25% of them are exhibiting for the first time their amazing robotic solutions.  We gather the players of the service robotics ecosystem. The exhibition area consists mainly of business professionals - technology, hardware, software – with  creators, suppliers  and distributors, but major high end laboratories and educational institutions are also participating, demonstrating the latest results of their research programs and know-how.  With 100% satisfaction and business deals closed in the first edition, no doubt you can find the right partner, supplier or customer at Innorobo 2012.

Check out the exhibitors page on our website and join us to exhibit your product and associated services.

CONFERENCES

As in 2011 edition, high end renowned speakers will share their visions, perspectives and experiences on service robotics for three days. The final program is still in progress but we can already reveal some exciting thematics which will be covered by INNOROBO conferences :

  • Synergies and convergence between Industrial and Service robotics. Wednesday the 14th of March

Industrial robotics is well-known for its applications in welding, soldering, handling, assembling,... For the automotive, metal, plastic and chemical industries. But Industrial robotics is now evolving towards new industries as well as smaller firms. It needs to invent and produce innovative industrial robots, more flexible, mobile and more importantly working hand in hand with human workers. The human robot interactions in factories and Cobotics  are some hot subjects demonstrating the synergies and convergence that are promised to happen between industrial and service robotics technologies and solutions.

  • Health and Medical robotics.
    Thursday the 15th of March

The growth of medical robots since the mid-80s has been overwhelming, both as a field of innovation and research and also as a market for new products and services. Medical robotics is considered one of the success-stories of service robotics. It is one prominent segment of growth for service robotics, driven by demographic shifts, rising prosperity in developing countries and advances in medical technology.
Health robotics covers mainly 5 major “applications” domains:

- Minimal invasive surgery
- Imaging techniques,
- Rehabilitation and prosthesis,
- e-health
- Telemedicine

Outstanding researchers, visionary entrepreneurs and renowned market leaders will unveil their experiences and latest technologies for you to get a grip of the care revolution ahead.

  • Urban robots for citizens.
    Thursday the 15th of March

One vision for the future features a generation of robots designed to play various roles in urban society. Some robots will be guides for tourists, some will help the elderly, some will make sure megacities are safe and others will collect our rubbish. Beyond this perspective of Urban Robots, we shall envision intelligent robotics distributed systems to solve our major societal challenges: Mobility solutions with an overwhelming urbanization, assistance to the citizens in megacities with twice as many elderly people in 30 years than today, sustainable development for our planet to survive our demanding energy consumption.

Other fascinating trends will be shared and discussed including Cloud Robotics, Human Robot Interactions, etc…
Stay tuned to our news on twitter or Facebook.

Conferences are not solely about visions for the future, they will provide participants with facts and figures on the market as well as testimonies from business professionals sharing their failures and successes.  Register now
