The Service Robotics Market

SERVICE ROBOTICS is meant to experience the highest growth rate in the next decade.

2009 figures as published by the Japanese Robotics Association : Personal service robotics should reach US$ 12 billion worldwide in 2010 and US$ 35 billion in 2025.

2010 ABI Research figures : Personal service robotic market should reach US$ 19 billion by 2017.

IFR – World Robotics 2009.Service robotics will grow from US$ 13,5 billion in 2009 to a US$ 24,3 billion in 2009-2012 and reach US$ 100 billion by 2020.
In Europe, the service robotics market is estimated at  US$ 5 billion (source IFR), representing 33% of the overall market. Germany is the leading country with 51% of the market, followed by Italy with 22% and France with 12%. Thus France represents about US$ 600 million.

Whilst each study is estimating the overall market value differently due to different market frontiers and definitions, all studies agree on the fact that Service robotics is the fastest growing sector with high potential perspectives.

Numerous fields of activities are positively impacted by the growth of service robotics:

  • Electronic
  • digital
  • Mechanic
  • Computer engineering (artificial intelligence, networks, embedded technologies, voice recogntion, Augmented reality, 3D simulation...)
  • Design
  • Telecommunications
  • Health related Technologies

...

Service Robotic frontiers are very large and relate to many fields of the economy such as: :

  • Internet of things, smart devices and home robotics and automation
  • Health – notably with rehabilitation and assistance to the dependent and impaired persons
  • Education and Technologies
  • Digital Entertainment
  • Security and surveillance
  • Local authorities and local environmental development
  • Men-robot interactions in the workplace
